Villa Romana del Tellaro

Noto

Villa Romana del Tellaro is a rich suburban residence of the late Roman imperial age, located near Noto and in front of the Vendicari Nature Reserve.

It is a masterpiece of the fourth century after Christ, discovered accidentally thirty years ago, was the home of a family of landowners, whose floors were covered with extraordinary mosaics that, for refinement of style, are among the most significant of the time and can well rival those, well known, Piazza Armerina, near Enna. And for a few years, after a very long restoration, they are visible to the public.
